I have my MXT PRO for 3 weeks now, Ihave found a civil war incampment. why do I think so, bayonet, jaw harp, horse shoes, wagon wheel nuts, square nails, all kinds of metal objects ? havent id them yet. Think I am in the area where they shoed their horses, a typ of blacksmith area, The old timers in the area know of no blacksmith in this area the heavy saturated so far has been about 50 square ft or so. Dont want give to much info:rolleyes: but my question is, I have been using iron ID hits everything one square nail 8" deep, cant go 3 ft. without hitting something, should I use tone 1 or 2 with some disc. or go own as I am doing? I guess I am to anxious for buckle or button, trying to be patient

It all depends what you want to do and how much you want to dig. Remember with IRON ID, the DISC is disabled so the MXT Pro will hit on IRON and NON-IRON targets. I personally like the 2 Tone ID. It will produce a High Pitch Tone for those targets above your DISC setting and a Low Pitch Tone for those targets (rejected) below the DISC setting. I hope this helps. Good luck. CCH

cleaning a 50 ft. sq. area I would maybe recover more iron. If it is there that bad, it could be masking a good non-iron target. Besides, not all iron is junk. in old-use sites like that with decent potential, I prefer to hunt in a 2-tone audio and listen to everything. If I question an iron audio response I might recover it, but at least I know there is iron there. Then I can sort of scan around it to try and pick out a keeper.

Also, in very trashy sites I would be using the 6
