Toltec II supertuned

Hope everyone is doing well. In order to supertune the Toltec 2 the threshold is cranked up while the unit is in all metal, the unit is then put into Disc. mode and sensitivity is increased as far as it will go for stable operation. Is this correct. Thanks in adavance.

that is right ,but you need to set the GB first. when I had my Toltec 2,I would unplug the meter and just use the audio you can gain a inch or so, and keep the dis low.

I'm not sure about the Toltec but once the unit is ground balanced, go to Disc mode, I set the disc to the point where it just rejects foil, turn up the Sens to the point where it starts to chatter, back it off a hair, then increase Thresh hold to a minimum of 80% of max or more. Increasing the Thresh hold will maintain a solid tone/beep when you pass the coil over a target. When you set the Thresh hold to, for instance, 50% of max, you will get a diminishing tone/beep as the target gets deeper. Hope this helps.

Hey texican,

I've owned the Toltec ll for 17 yrs. and I have tried it "super tuned", it just seemed deeper because the tone was enhanced to the edge of detection range, it was'nt any deeper. I like the modulated audio without super tuning and the audio gets squirrely in the iron nails with a high threshold setting. I set the threshold to just audible so I can use the all-metal to pinpoint with & check the ground balance once in awhile, my ground must be good and consistant because I do'nt change the ground balance much at all. This Toltec ll of mine is'nt a depth monster, just on par with my original Bandido depth wise.

I forgot about the Toltec , never had one but it seems to be a heck of a machine, hope your doing well yourself, hank
