Not sure, need help with this . Found today, going to have coin person try cleaning it to be sure. Could it be worth anything . Came in at 12 -39 @ 6" down on side up against a root. Using a x-5 coil in relic mode w/G4E settings . Only 1 side with details , otherside needs cleaning alot. Hard to read around edge but with cleaning there are letters. It's about the size of a new U.S. dollar coin and as thich as a penny. Only image i found was , (could it be one ).....Nova Constellatio , copper , blunt rays and that was a 1783 to 1785. It has a eyeball in the middle and rays going around and away from eyeball with stars in between the rays . Hope pic helps. Also got a 48 rosie and 40,56 wheat . Thanks for looking.

Wow GroundScanner, you've found a rare one there. It's a Nova Constellatio Copper/Token minted from 1783 to 1785 in Birmingham England for circulation in America. There are quite a few varieties of these. Hard to tell which one this is from the photo, but it looks like the1785 with blunt rays variety. I've only found one of these in over thirty years of metal detecting. During these early years before official US currency many forms of tokens/coppers were used for trade. This kinda falls in the same category as the state coinage (i.e Connecticut, Vermont, New Jersey, etc). I don't have the latest Red Book but it probably lists somewhere in the range of $100 - $200 in very good condition. Great Find!

Congrats on great find !

Well i took the token to 2 coin collectors and i should not have tried cleaning it myself. Highest price they would give me was $75 bucks. If i did not try cleaning it i would have got twice that in its shape.
