Toggle Issue.

Well it seems like when it rains, it pours.

Today, while using the "V", the toggle stuck in the pinpoint position numerous times. Is there a way to fix it without sending it in for service? Maybe it just needs to be cleaned? I had this problem last summer, and a few days later, the toggle broke off. Is this the first indication of what is to come?

You could try spraying some contact cleaner in it but that would be a temporary fix. The switch is pre wired to a plug and and an easy swap you could do yourself. Retail is $7.95, but again, call service for your part........ should be under warranty.

I saw on Whites web site where you could buy a replacement toggle switch for the V3i, I guess that means it may be user replaced without sending the machine in?
Unless its under warranty.
Sounds to me it is dirty and you may could use a can of air like you buy at Wal-Mart in the electronics dept. an clean it out.
couldn't hurt to try.

Check your local dealer. My dealer carries the toggle switch in stock in his store.Shouldn't be to difficult to replace. I replaced my DFX toggle a couple of times over the years.

Nothing to change it. I'm different I guess, I'd rather just have them send the warrantied switch and not lose my detector. I also would save the shipping and insurance charges.

A friend of mine had his switch get crudded up with fine sand and dirt and it was sticking and not working. I was able to take the switch apart carefully, then clean it and put it back together. It took less than an hour. Just be careful to make sure you orientate the tiny parts in the switch the right way.

I had my Toggle break off at the start of a hunt last fall, talk about a bubble burst. While I was driving home all I could think about was having to send it in to be repaired and being without my V3. I posted the issue on this forum and within minutes and had replies, Larry said the Toggle could be ordered on the White's Web Site and have it shipped. Within a few days I had the part and replaced the Toggle in minutes, although I did put in in backwards and had a hell of a time trying to detect for a few hours. Easy fix, and I ordered a spare just in case. Ron in Henrietta
