toggle boots

Neil

Well-known member
Does anyone know where I can buy some of these boots that cover the whole toggle, not just the base.
The toggle ends are getting corroded on my Black Widows so I need to get the kind that covers the entire toggle.

Neil

Ive seen them on ebay but they are from the UK, anything closer than that?

Try Mouser Electronics at:

www.mouser.com

I recently purchased my half-boots from them and I believe I saw where they carried full boots as well.

I believe the standard for toggle boots is APM Hexseal. I think most of the electronics distributors carry them, including Allied. I have used some other brands, but i think APM are the best. Be sure to get their pdf for a complete list of different models and options. Also on their site are directions to insure a solid seal. The downside of the whole toggle is that the tips can tear. I know that there is a version that has an armor plated tip, but i think it was for an unusual thread size.

Good Luck

Thanks for the info. Full coverage would be best, there are two toggles, one is a limiter, one is mono/stereo so they really never get used.

does anyone know the threads or size on the Sov? I think its 1/4" but not sure of the threads. this size is the same as on the black widows.

Neil I got mine from Sun Ray Dealer chuck is his name They wee not cheap but I did not have to deal with buying the wrong threads from Mouser or Digi key> I have a extra one I will check the threads out tonight for you.

The toggles on sovereign GT are 1/4-40 and the same on Blackwidow headphone. I have them on my GT& Blackwidows I got mine at a local electronics store about $ 1.75 each.

Hi i have just ordered four for my GT. from here : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Minelab-Switch-Covers-Sovereign-Range-1-4-NC-/120786317463?pt=UK_Gadgets&hash=item1c1f6cf097

Hope this helps you.

Indian nations has them under minelab accessories. They are good to work with

Guys ,
I'm sorry for my post on the toggle boots .....I was told that the company that I posted the link for had the 1/4 " 40 thread boots ......My bad !!....I should have double checked it myself .....Sorry for any confusion .....Jim

Its been about a month now that I was interested in the toggle covers for my black widows. I cut small pieces of black rubber electrical tape and poked holes in them with a toothpick then, kinda an interim measure that I might as well just go ahead and stick with. I dont use the toggles and the seal I get from this tape is complete as you can see. Not sure how long it will last, but a roll of this tape runs about $4 at home depot if I remember right (I bought a roll of it this summer for another purpose), and this has lasted a month already with no signs of peeling and Ive wiped them down several times from hunts at the ocean.

Actually they make toggle boots that do not have the cover for the actual lever part of the switch ....It sits down over top of the lever just like your tape and the top part of the lever is exposed ..... As long as there is no leakage into the internal parts of the switch , it's a great idea !!......Jim

yes sir Jim, those are the ones I have on my Sovs control boxes now.

Is there any reason that the Plasti-dip for tool handles can't be painted onto the toggle switch ends? Then do the electrical tape with hole in it over that? Or put the tape on first and paint the exposed tips with the tool handle plasti-dip.
