Along with a 5 lire and a 10 lire coin from the 50's, I also found this 5 German Mark coin (1951 J Hamburg mint) in excellent condition, .625 Ag.
The weather was great. I now noticed the coin photos are turned... but since I'm having trouble with my netbook, they'll stay that way.

nice i got 6" of snow hh

What a cool place! Do you have any information on why those stones are there? Is it some sort of solar calendar type of structure?
Mud

Very Sweet Congrats Nice Looking Place Also

That place is about 370 metres above the city. The structure is Austrian-Hungarian from the 1800's and was originally placed on a castel in the St. Vital neighbourhood of Trieste. It was positioned in a way that it pointed exactly North, for astronomical reasons. It was later moved to it's present location once it wasn't needed anymore. It was destroyed in the 1960's and restored some time between 2003 and 2009, maybe 2006.

Very cool. I'm familiar with those 5 mark coins from collecting.

Very nice finds !

I found one of those 5 mark coins about a year ago. Didn't know they contained that much silver

That's a very cool coin!! Didn't know you had that nice of weather up north this time of year.Congrats and HH

North Italy. We're at the northern edge of the Adriatic Sea, and it's still at a balmy +12C. There is frost every night on the plateau though.
