Today's surprise three cent piece

Ed (Upstate NY)

Met up with Park Pirate this morning at our favorite hunted out park. Was lucky to score a few coins. First good find was a 1907 V nickel with a wheat cent stuck to it. Later on I got lucky when I dug a deep signal that hit on the smart screen where modern screw caps usually hit. I was quite surprised to retrieve a nice 1852 silver three center from about 8" down. In 29 years of metal detecting this is only the second silver three cent piece I have dug. A bright spot in what has been a lousy year as far as good finds go !

great find.. ive only ever found one... im Surprised you got a signal off of that coin at 8inches as they are so small and thin.. great score..

Howdy Ed (Upstate NY)--

That trime is dandy! It always amazes me how kind the NY soil is to silver. Whenever I visit Buffalo I always try to get my share of nice looking silver. It's quite a contrast to the dull gray silver that I dig in West Texas. Congratulations on that 3 center! Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!

Nice find Ed.. I have only found one in over 35 years of detecting. Not something you find everyday for sure.. Good job Sir..
