hey everybody! i walked into the woods near the house here, and started hitting yankee three ringers right away. the ground is kinda swampy, and the bullets came out looking like black easter eggs, with a thick encrustation all over them. i ended up finding 11 of them in about an hour and a half. i got a good hit about 6" down underneath a 3" thick tree root and recovered this 3/4" x 1" gold looking monogrammed plate - it took a while to get it out, too. it might be upside down in the big pic, and came out the ground just as shiny as you see it. there are no markings on it, and looks like it came off of something. the two old flat buttons were a nice bonus too.
i also found some lead melt and an old oil lamp mantle, a cannonball frag, and some flattened railroad pennies. the story has it that both armies basically camped on the small battleground the night of the battle, being too exhausted to move. i may be onto a small plot where a couple of soldiers might have slept for the night. no old coinage has shown up yet, but i'm looking. not bad for an hour and a half hunt! thanks for reading, and hh!

Dont know about the gold but those bullets sure do look cool, dont have any civil war era stuff like that here in lower Delaware. Wish we did !

Hey GG, That's a nice hunt, especially that it was a short one. That's more lead than usual, all in great shape!! If there are that many bullets, some silver coins will follow. I hear a Seated calling you. Great hunt!!

Congrats on the very good hunt GG!! I really like the bullets. The gold item is very cool. I would have to test that one! Very nice hunt, Beale.

the gold thing looks like some sort of stamp thingy..??
so when you press down on candle wax or something...the letter "L" in fancy cursive is shown...??

very cool stuff.
