Today's Quickie hunt

Had a little time to kill today at lunch, and hit a park that I recently found. Came up with 22 memorial pennies, 1 1958 canadian penny, a clad quarter, 3 dimes, a nickel, and a ring. Not sure about the ring yet. I don't see any markings, and think it is a junk ring. It is very heavy for it's size, and I can feel where it has been resized. (an irregular place on the bottom of the shank). It's my first ring though, so it's a keeper!
HH!

Great job! Hey a ring is a ring! I'm so desperate if I eyeball a doughnut on the ground I'm calling it a ring! It better be a glazed one though!

Hey Darren,
Great finds. I love when I can't go and others surprise me their great digs.
That's the problem with winter :))
What detector were you swinging. and what coil ?
Again you did great

Bruce, I was using the ace 350 with the factory DD coil.

The Ace series is something to be really proud of.
Garrett does a good job when designing detectors.
The two detectors I have really produce, and some days
it comes down to a coin toss of which one to take.
I spent the time learning each one and both serve there purpose,
and do the job..
The Excelerator 10 x 14 DD really goes deep.
Thinking about getting the SEF 6 x 8 by Excelerator for the Ace, or may
invest into the high freq for the Xterra. Time will tell.

Happy Hunting

I hear you bud. It's been so long since I found one I wouldn't know what it was. HA. I think with this rotten economy everybody is hocking their rings. HA.

I just sent some gold and silver to ARA myself. I'm not expecting a $10,000 check like John though! Maybe about $300?

Yeah I've got some stuff I've been thinking about sending in. One item is a hunk of melted gold that weighs over an ounce plus some gold crowns. Got a bunch of gold rings but really hate to part with them. Got one that is homemade out of pure gold. The guy must have melted down a nugget and formed it. He even put his name inside the band. Got some nuggets but don't want to part with them as they are part of my test items for field tests. Been hoping gold would take another jump in price.

That's a good move. Silver is set to take a jump, I believe up around maybe $80 an ounce or somewhere near that. Too bad the Hunt brothers ain't still around to drive the price up. HAA. I remember when they did people were lined up at the coin stores for blocks selling everything they could scrounge up that was made of silver. What broke my heart was the sight of so many old, beautiful, silver coins being turned in to be melted down and gone forever. Watched one guy dump out a huge bag ( hundreds ) of Walking Liberty Halves on the counter and some woman dumped out several hundred silver dollars. I almost had big tears in my eyes watching all that going off to the melting pot. I hung onto my silver coins.

Bill, we have managed to miss the cold stuff. We have had a lot of rain, but it has been mild. Mid 50's during the days, and dipping down to freezing for a short period at night. I took the ring by and had it checked, and it turns out not to be junk. It's 10k white gold!! The jeweler said that the stamp was most likely in the area of the ring that had been removed for sizing. Needless to say, this got me excited. On my way back from one of my service calls today, I noticed that on my garmin GPS, parks are in green. I followed it to a small park, but when I got there, it turned out to be where a baseball field used to be, but now it was just a vacant lot. I set the ace to sound on anything nickel and above, and got to work. After about a half hour, here is my haul. (aside from the dozen or so pull tabs I dug). 2 clad quarters, 2 dimes, 9 pennies, and another ring!. The ring is .925. And to think, 2 years ago, I bought an ace 250 and quickly sold it because I didn't like the belltone! Really glad I took time to start understanding the 350.
