I went to another park today to do some metal detecting, and as usual I took more pics than finding anything. I called my friend who lives nearby and talked him into bringing his 1954 Buick Road master Fire Chief's car. He brought his daughter with him too. While hunting earlier I saw this oak tree with shelf mold growing on it, and the way the early morning sun was peeking through other trees, I said to myself.........Photo Op! Enjoy.......
 
I don;t ever remember seeing any Shelf Mold. That is a neat looking old car. Kelley (Texas) :)
 
The self molds are a type of fungus, correct? They are quite common on dead or dying tree, but I have also seen them on apparently healthy trees.
