Ok today I started on a field and it was absolutely a trash pit, it was in the 1872 map so I made up my mind I was going to stick it out and dig everything. In four hours I dug all this trash from the site! But my persistence earned me a two center, silver merc, few wheats, CW button, Boy Scout buckle, a surface marble, and some utensils. Still more area to cover. I will return when I am ambitious lol.

Today's persistence paid off! 1865 two center!

Congrat's on the 2 cent'er ! I've got a few field, house sites that produce prodigious amounts of trash like that! 
The one I was hunting yesterday was also used as a shooting club in the early 1900's. Dug 42 shotgun shell bases..................Drop in the bucket as I have dug over 3 gallons of them there!
But, I keep going back as there was an 1850's cabin there first & has produced some good finds................

The few old homesites/1-room school houses i've detecting usually produce corroded nails!

you're not the only one, my detecting gear is stowed away til next Spring! Come to the conclusion detecting this time of year is no fun...no fun at all...in fact its a PITA!
Time now to get in on with delayed projects and chores which is also no fun....no fun at all...the reason i delayed them during the prime detecting season. lol!
But still like seeing other die hards out there posting their finds.
