Today's outing.

I recently got a nice detector bag with a full length strap for easier shoulder carrying from kellyco, so that I could go outside my own yard. So spent a couple of hours at the local park today with the V. Messed around the kiddie section and seemed to get only false signals. Of course they did the ground around the slides and swings in beach sand rather than mulch. I figured that it was just like being at the beach for which the V is not really intended. So I focused on areas around some of the trees. A few pieces of junk: 1 nail, 1 pull tab, I battery, 1 nail, a couple pieces of can slaw, and a tiny piece of mystery metal. Overall it is a remarkably clean park. I still received a couple of signals that turned out to be false though. For example: I get a signal, pinpoint it, dig, check the hole- it's still there, dig some more. check again, no signal. Check the dirt pile. No signal. Check the settings. Same as I left 'em. This is a mystery to me at this point. Also I am still getting used to this unit and realized that I possibly need to expand my surface search a little even if I pinpoint. Also learning that if I experience chattering for some unknown reason to check to see if the sens has accidentally been pushed too high. It was. On the bright side I found 1 shiny 2007 Lincoln at about 1 inch. AND-drum roll please-MY FIRST RING! OK so it was only a junk kiddy friendship ring, but it felt like the treasure of El Dorado when I first dug it up. I dug 3 or 4 inches before I realized it was closer to the surface near the edge of my search area. But I am slowly learning. I think.

I seem to get false signals if the ground is really wet, meaning if i dig the hole there ends up being water in the hole but it still beeps. Idon't know if it's the water or not?

Hey Tseeker it sounds like you are going about it the right way. Doing your practice and learning thr detector. Keep it up, and Congrats on your first ring, Beale.

some times you lose the signal when you break the halo. it could be a coin that is still in the hole but thedetector won't respond any more. dig a little more dirt out and you should find it. its usually pennies that i find that do this.

those signals whear you keep digging can be a larg deep object i found one like that dug way down never did find it i figured it was a sewer pipe keep up the detecting love your posts

Well the ground was damp from all the rain we have been having, but not soaked. I was actually thinking that I would have better depth from wetter ground conditions.

Now the missed signals did have a broken quality to them sometimes. I had figured tiny grain sized bits of foil or something.
