Hit a high school football field for about 90 minutes this afternoon and came up with this piddling amount - $2.84. This school is hit hard and I was surprised to scrounge this up. Prior to that I had hit one of my favorite playgrounds and couldn't find even one penny. I think someone vacuumed that puppy clean. I've never hunted a playground before and found absolutely nothing. Was a humbling experience.:) And this playground used to produce several dollars. There's just to many detectors out there.

Man, you guys find a lot of quarters.....People up here must carry magnets in their pockets, as they lose much less quarters, but thousands of pennies. WTG Bill, I too searched a playground and got skunked :( oh well, can't win them all! :)

PLus Garretts are extremely partial to quarters for some strange reason. Many times my quarters will outnumber the other coins. Course these days a quarter is what a penny used to be so that's what the school kids all carry for pocket change. When I was a kid a penny was big money and a quarter paid my way into a movie and bought me a candy bar, coke, and box of popcorn. Try that on a quarter today. :)

The playgrounds and parks don't hold much around here because someone has vacuumed them pretty well....Me! I live in a small town and when I first got into detecting I went every day and hit every park and playground in town several times. I loaded up two coffe cans full of clad in a couple of months and the pickins are really slim now. A new detectorist with and ACE 250 showed up on one of the forums and was complaining that the ACE wasn't any good as he wasn't finding anything. I got to checking and he lives in the same town I do. He has already bought a more expensive machine because his ACE was no good! And guess what? He still isn't finding anything! I sent him a couple of emails and a personal message to let him know what was up but he just blew me off, so I guess he'll keep on digging where there ain't anything or give up the hobby. I tried! Yeah they are out there. He probably won't be finding anything a year from now. HA. I've known guys like that who went through a dozen different detectors and still found little. They think these machines are magic and all you have to do is wave them over the ground and coins will jump out. They never learn.
