Today I went back to the site that I found the old gold at last weekend. I wanted to see how the V3 acted without interference from another metal detector. I decided on my D2 because the land was once farmland and tends to be moderately mineralized.
The threshold was so smooth that at times I thought it wasn't operating, and that was nice. But the thing I noticed the most is that it is not as sensitivie as the Eclipse 950 coil is to small buttons and other small targets. I am always able to find small buttons at this site, as well as digging plenty of bird shot. Today, none of that.
It did detect larger targets such as shotgun shells at more than 9 inches though, so if you are looking for coin sized objects or larger it is not a problem.
For now I will stick with my concentric coils.
