Todays meager finds

I found these today during a quick 2 hour hunt using the F-75. I found them in a lot that used to have a house there years ago. Man, was it loaded with the usual junk in old yards. I turned the disc up to 40 and used 4h tones and could only run sens at 28, lots of overhead highline wires all around me.

The token says "For old age assistance" on the back it says Consumer Tax Token Oklahoma with the number 1 on each side.

Cool finds. I've found several tax tokens here in Alabama. I think that one is for 1/10 of a cent (or 1 mil). They were issued so people could pay the exact amount of sales tax. Without these, stores lost money because of rounding up or down.
Check out taxtoken.org for some more specifics.

It was probably dropped by some "Okies" that migrated from OK to California during the Dust Bowl. From what I understand, lots of OK Tax tokens can be found in NM, AZ, and CA, due to "Okies" migrating during that time.

Heck, I half expected to find one while I was up in Michigan, but never did.
