Todays meager finds with De Leon

Hunted the farm I'd been waiting for all week, but it didn't live-up to my hopes. But, I did get some swing-time in with the new Tesoro, so that was good. I was hunting with a friend using a Whites, and is proficient with it, yet lacked in the finds department as well, so it wasn't just me.

All I found was a '50 Wheat, and this pin:

I gave the pin to the lady who allowed us to hunt the property, as it was her parents property when they were living. I joked as I gave it to her and said perhaps it was hers as a little girl. I'm sure it meant more to her than it did to me.

We hit 2 other sites, one a house slated for demo, and the other was the site I'd scored the 1864 2 cent piece a couple weeks ago. Nothing found at either site, by either of us.

I do know it's going to take a bit of getting used to the Tesoro, after using nothing but the Aces (matter of fact i sold the 250 today, and I'll keep the 350). I think I'll withhold my opinion on the De Leon until I can spend a bit more time on the end of it. There was lots of iron in the 2 crop fields we hunted, the majority of it throwing me into overload, not something I'm used to.

Anyway, still a good day, sun was shining (though it was a bit breezy) and got to get out. Gonna try and sneak in a few more hunts before old man winter comes to town. We'll get 'em next hunt

You did better than me, today I found 7 pull-tabs, 3 nails and one penny. Give that Deleon a chance, it's a powerful piece of equipment! You should hit those older properties a few more times before spring. Good Hunting!

Not much better opus  Oh, I plan to (give it a chance). I'm aware it's a whole new ball game now, and there's a learning curve that goes with it. That's why I'm not gonna add regarding the detector, I honestly couldn't give an educated opinion.

I doubt it's just me, but there's a certain disappointment that follows what basically is getting "skunked", at least with me. We all know it's just part of the game, it happens, etc., but it's still a let-down. I don't blame that on the detector, or myself, there just weren't many good targets to put the coil over. We were joking earlier today about a very good site we'd hunted last year, an old church site where the building had been gone for decades, and it'd never been hunted. That field "spoiled" us was the meat of the conversation, and it somewhat had. We'd beat that field to death, multiple times. Went back last week and still managed a couple wheats and an IH between us.

So, I'll just lick my wounds (lol, to my ego) while planning the next hunt. I'll never complain about not making finds. As long as I can walk & swing a detector, I figure I'm already doin' pretty good.
