My buddy and I hunted around some old homesites in the woods and found very little although one did produce some decents finds about a year ago.
I found the bullet in a gap between two stones and had a hard time getting it out due to there only being about a one inch gap between the rocks.
I don't know what kind of bullet it is and could use some help.
It is 5/8" long and 11/16" in diameter and has a small cavity in the rear.
Other items found are the horseshoe, coin purse frame, old bottle top, modern casing, some kind of pistol casing, a couple of some kind of tags, and a couple of misc. items.
Thanks for looking,
Felix

Looks to be a fired Williams cleaner bullet. I have found hundreds of drops but few fired. The troops hated these bullets due to recoil and inaccuracy though they weren't mean't for targets.
Nice find!

Good call Mike...Williams cleaner for sure. Heres pic of a droped (or thrown away) Williams. TomB

I haven't cleaned them up yet, but the last one I found at this site didn't have anything on them.
I'm not sure what they were used for... I was also wondering why they have two holes instead of only one.
I'll let you know if they have any numbers or letters on them when I clean them up.
