Today's lone find

Park Pirate and I were taking a good beating from the old ghetto park today. After 3 hours we didn't even have a wheatie to show between the two of us. We hit an area we have really pounded and I decided to dig this real iffy sounding signal. I heard a hint of a high pitch but the cross hairs hit in an odd place on the smart screen. Depth was good so I decided to dig. After digging out the first couple scoops of dirt I stick the X-1 probe in the hole and pull out a 1952 nickel. Stuck the probe back in the hole and it screamed silver. About another inch down I see the rim of a silver coin. I called over Park Pirate to check it out and then removed the 1938 mercury dime from it's resting place. When I scanned the dirt I had already removed, I found a rusty crown cap and a memorial cent in the pile. This mercury dime was masked by the crown cap, the memorial penny and a nickel. That explains the odd hit on the smart screen. Park Pirate and I must have walked over that dime at least a dozen times before. Gotta love the way the explorers can sniff ot those silver coins when surrounded by trash.

Excellant job on the Silver. I`m going to start digging more iffy signals. That Merc is in great shape. :clapping:

You aint kidding we pounded this area to death and found a lot of silver hear last year. but ED. had his silver ear on and in find tune i must say. vary nice hunting ED. :beers: congrats.

Nice find and a very good story to boot. Reminds to not be afraid of digging the IFFY's

I want them all I say!!!!! ( Ok I will go back to lurking in the Fisher clasic forum!)

I just pulled this out of the dirt the week before last with an iffy signal, Kind of had a discussion with somebody that said he could read a place and know where the good items would be. I had to absolutely laugh at that becasue there is NO way you could know what was there 100 years ago, ANYWHERE in a park. Nor could you know who walked where or who dropped what where. Let him dig the for sure signals and miss the gold!!!

That was my almost lone find. I did get a 1952 wheat in the same place.
