today's lead filled hunt

GRAY GHOST

hello all. frank and i headed to the woods early this morning, but were finding little in the way of relics. an occasional bullet here, a shotgun shell there... you know how it goes sometimes. the pistol bullet was the first find of the day, followed by a fired sharps bullet. after finding two dropped sharps in each of two holes, things began to look up. walking back further into the woods, i came across a rifle pit where i dug all six of the williams cleaners and four three ringers in one hole. as frank pointed out, the pit is directly in line where i had dug several yankee buttons, a spur, j hooks, and other nice brass in the past. at least we know where to start swingin' next weekend.
i didn't find any brass today, kinda unusual. i ended up with a nice variety for the day. the rifle pit finds came late in the hunt, so we didn't have time to capitalize on it. but you can bet we'll try to next time! had a lot 'o fun. thanks for reading, and hh!
