Hit the schoolyards early today spent about 7 hours out there giving the Edge a workout.
Did fairly well while learning this detector. It does perform well on the bench with Canadian clad but, also behaves a bit differently
ID the coins in the ground. Since coin composition changed numerous times over the years, ID numbers can be wacky.
Pennies were all over the place anywhere from a +7 to +32, the bulk tend to be around +18 to +20. So I was digging a lot of them today.
They can be either high tone or mid tone. Nickels tend to come in around +4 or +9, pull tabs +9 to +14. Dimes are a real problem -14 or +14,
and they have to be lying flat. The Edge will not pick them up on edge like my Tesoros do. Quarters jump a bit 23-26. Loonies come in around 28-32,
Twoonies 26-30. So the Edge can be a great cherry picker for those $1 and $2 dollar coins if you notch everything else out but, you'll still have to dig those pennies.
Met one of the other local detector guys in this small city I now live in and gave me the hunting scoop, most places here have been hit hard for the past 15 years. And
what it was like hunting here 10 years ago compared what it's like currently. Wish I was here back then. Most spots have been filled in and lots of the good areas are now below
tons of fill. But, you still find some old stuff if you keep on digging. Next time I head out hunting, I'll grab a Tesoro and hunt an area with the Edge then come back over to see if
I missed any dimes or coins on edge. The average depth I find anything around here is about 5-6" with the detectors I own.
Pinpointing is spot on and I like the overload signal when pinpointing, quickly alerts me to a surface coin.
I found I can also detune the Edge in pinpoint mode. Once you center the target using the pinpoint button, if it's a loud target, stop on top of the target while holding the pp button, release and quickly press the button again and hold it now move the coil side to side a bit and you see the target became smaller. If you don't press the pp button at the right time the Edge will revert back to disc mode.
Todays finds included:
2--Loonies $1.00 coins
3--Quarters
7--Dimes
11-Nickels
212--Pennies
Lots of pull tabs, foil, bottle caps and the usual crapola
