Todays hunt

Today the sun shined and the ground was thawed enough for another hunt. After being couped up for the last couple of months it was great to get out and get some exercise and fresh air. I Hunted for about 4.5 hours and I was using my MXTs new 6" Excelerator search coil. I dug a fair amount of trash and some clad coins, a dog Id tag,and 3 Hot wheels cars. The coil is proving to be everything I had hoped it would be. I did not experience one problem with the coil. Pinpointing was right on as were the VDI numbers. I got into some heavy trash and it worked great with separation of targets. The deepest target that I dug today was at about 6 inches. I think that once this coil is put into production it is going to be a very popular search coil.. HH Dennis in Idaho

Hey steel...Not bad finds at all. Question about the coil. I currently have the White's 5.3 (6") Eclipse and like it alot. Is this an aftermarket "clone" of the Eclipse? If it's not "out" yet, who makes it and how did you get one? Thanks....

What's up with the 5" EXcelerator ? I feel the 5" gives that n'th degree of separation over the 4.5x7" EXcelerator. Have you tried the 5" also ? I'm using the M6 and just curious. Thanks for any info.HH Bill

I believe the Excelerator coils are sold exclusively by Kellyco, who is a sponsor. I have the 5" Excel. coil and Really like it in high trash areas. I find the VDI to be accurate and the pinpointing is right on. It could be the high moisture content of my Louisiana soil, but sometimes I've noticed that the coin is shallower than the depth read when pinpointing with my MXT. I think the soil content, as well as the moisture content of the soil, affect the stock coil the same way. Reggie

Hi Reggie,

The depth readings are based on the 950 coil and smaller coils will read deeper but if it says 8" and it's only 6" i'm usually :) HH Bill

Kellyco provided me with the prototype 6" Excelerator DD search coil for my evaluation. It is not on the market yet. I have not tried the 5" DD Excelerator nor the Whites 5.3 (6X6) and after using the 6" DD Excelerator I probably will not try them as this coil is meeting my needs. I also use the Excelerator 4.5X7 DD search coil and I have been using it exclusively in trashy areas. Now that this 6" came along I have two top quality DD coils to choose between for hunting trashy areas. HH Dennis in Idaho
