Today I went in behind an old Hall that was built in the 1870's. I went there to detect in the field behind it, but unfortunately the field was thicker and taller than it looked like from the road.
I detected any area that I could get the coil near the ground (which wasn't much). After 1 1/2 - 2 hours, I ended up with 4 wheaties and one find that saved the day Low 30's on the xlt's vdi and 4 1/2 inches down.
Best pics I could do with the scanner.

The front is worn a bit, so it's hard to make out what the design is.

The only stamp on the ring says "trade mark". I'm pretty sure that it's solid gold and not plated, but there's no stamp indicating it's gold. There's no corrosion. If anyone has any ideas about whether or not it's gold, I'd love to hear it
