Went to the fairgrounds no go. So i went to a small park to try my luck that i have been to before.Ended up with a 1920 merc silver ring 1882 indian a12 13 17 44 56 wheaties and the usually clad.Sure was a hot one today had my detector shut down today but it started right back up first time in two hunts. Was trying different modes on targets today notice signal was a lot better on open screen compared to #1 screen which is not open. Was wondering why i could not find any nickels but hit 6 today 12-13 12-15 thats where they came in at.My sensitivity at 16 to 22, i must have bad ground here because my mxt always read plus 83 One other thing is i have only dug 3 coins at 8 inches in the last 40 plus years i have detecting deep is 6 inches here .Would ground coin separation work better here.I would like to post picks but don,t know how. Thankx

Nice Hunt, I would use your current setting, find a target, and then switch to ground coin separation & listen:detecting: & look:look: at the screen. See which setting seems more stable and use that in that particular area. Auto + may work better in this type of ground as well.

Good Luck

Thankx for the help Don will try a couple of different settings. What is considered hot ground.

Take a look at this thread, hot ground has a high mineralization content as well as possible other factors.
