I went back to the site that has given me an 1840 O dime, an 1829 and an 1842 half dime and several round balls today. I found my oldest coin yet, an 1809 Half Riale, and a plain flat button. I also found several more round balls. As you can see, the coin and button have not fared too well. They have probably been hit by a plow more than once.
It was 38 when I got to the field at 8:30 and 69 when I left at 3:30.
