Went out to the little beach community again today. A good lunch and 29 cents is all I got out of it. 2 dimes, 1 nickel, 4 pennies. But it did include one actual copper 1988D cent in excellent shape and still shiny. I only mention it because finding pennies other than zincs seems to be getting harder to do. I only searched around the benches this time and a little bit in the parking lot where I probably would have found a little more but it was getting late. I had to get home in time to see Pirates of the Caribbean again. After all, I REALLY need the inspiration. I AM having fun I AM having fun I AM having fun....:rage:

Good Hunt .... And heck yea you are having fun , your at
the beach not freezing your butt off in the mid west

If it were easy everyone would do it.

Think of the exercise and fresh air you get, both of which few are getting these wintry days.
Do a few push ups and sit ups while your at it and you have made back the money you'd spend on a gym membership!

Zinc cents replaced bronze in 1982. That's 26 years ago. There are bound to be more of them out there.
Here's some interesting info:

The intrinsic value of pre-1982 US cents, weighing 3.11 grams, are worth $0.02414, 141.4% above face value in metal content at current market prices.
However, post-1982 US cents, which weigh 2.5 grams, are 97.5% zinc and 2.5% copper (coated over the zinc) by weight. These have an intrinsic value of $0.00508 as of June 13, 2008, or 49.2% less than face value.

With bronze cents at more double the face value, I think I'll start separating them out.

From the land of the Bluenose.....glad you got out and had a blast. Here we have frozen ground and can only dream of getting out. Best of the season to you sir!

Well good job on getting out and hunting! It sure beats sitting at a desk, or TV! Good hunting, Beale.
