Today's hunt with my new GoPro camera!

Hey all, managed to get out again to the farm with my buddy Jay. Today we decided to skip the field area all together and hunt in the woods behind the field. We started off slow working the edges of the paths and venturing off into the flat areas near the old rock wall property markers. Jay was first on board today with a nice 1907 Barber dime at about 5". I slowly was working a path and came across a slamming 52 nickel signal. I made a small hole and popped out a buffalo nickel. I put a bit of spit on it, but couldn't see a date. Oh well. About 20 minutes later and about 50 feet down the path, I came across a loud signal up against a tree. It was jumpy to say the least, the numbers were all over the place but I seen a few numbers hit the 80's and heard a really nice coin signal mixed in with the other crap. I dug a shallow plug, flipped it over and was rewarded with a really sweet 1902 Barber dime. I really wish I got it on live dig, but I didn't honestly think it was going to be anything good. I started videotaping after I realized some of the signals sounded halfway decent. Unfortunately it was a few shell casings in the same hole with it. We stuck out the hunt until dark and decided to call it a night.

This place sure has been good to us and I can't wait to get there again sometime this week. Enjoy the video and please forgive the quality as it is my first detecting video. HH!

Cool little vid! And coin! I wish I had one of those cameras, the possibilities are endless, lol. Then I'd just want a drone, too. Oh well...keep up the good work!

Great job hard to believe that is your first video, I also like to hunt the woods for older coins , they seem to mostly be 3-4 inches deep is that par for you ?

Congrats on your video! A new toy to play with. Metal detecting-photography-video all compliment each other.

Barber Dimes seem to be attracted to you. It's in great shape. Nice going!

I was just saying that the other day! I think I got 13 or 14 of them this year as compared to 0 last year lol! Probably my nicest one I ever dug. Most of the nice ones I dig, I end up giving my signature across the obverse or reverse due to carelessness. This one thankfully didn't get a scratch on it.

Beauty of a dime and not too bad of a video! Especially for your first run! Anyway, I liked it, ..Nice work!:clapping:

Thanks for the video Eric. Not bad for the first time. I like to hear some stories with my videos like Pete in California. Tell us where you are, why you're detecting there, what you think you're finding as they're coming out of the hole, what you're seeing on the screen, etc. Good job!

I usually don't have the time to watch videos but glad I got to watch this one. What kind of shovel are you using? I like the small size for the woods. Nice find on the dime for you and the quarter for your friend. Do you ever detune your propointer? It speeds me up when I do this recovering my target. Nice first video, Eric. It's been raining here all day and overcast, it would be hard to make a video today.
dgruff, get the gopro camera and the drone, you would have the best of both worlds.

Yeah that's about right, I haven't dug too many coins deeper than 6" in the woods. I'm hoping to get a nice piece of Spanish silver out of these woods. We've found colonial coppers (oldest 1769) so I know there's bound to be older silver there somewhere.

HH!

Its a Sampson shovel. I like it because it makes real nice clean plugs in the manicured parks. One thing I learned with using this shovel is to make wider plugs to avoid scratching a nice goodie. I rarely ever detune it. I'm actually thinking about getting the new Pro-Pointer

Thanks for the story and the video, good job!
I have one of these cameras and although I made some shots findings, I have no time to mount some decent ... to see if I get this holiday season with this ...
