IT IS COLD OUTSIDE EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just got my new 12x15 SEF coil in the mail from Kellyco yesterday.... I didn't get off work till seven last night,, So unfortunately I had to wait till today today to give it a try! So I had about 2 hours to give it a go before work!!! I decided to go back to my pounded park! There is a hill that people have been watching fireworks every year for YEARS! I was also told that there was a hotel on top of the hill back in the early 1900's... This place has produced a lot of good finds for me in the past.. But lately I haven't had any luck at all... You find mostly wheat penny's and silver dimes at this location... A lot of the big silver has been picked up over the years! To be honest, it's been at least 6 months since I have found a silver coin at this location... I figured this would be a perfect spot to test out my new coil! I originally had my heart set on the 15x18.. But after talking with others, and thinking about it.. I came to the conclusion that it may be a little to much of a coil for my area!
I strapped the big boy to my Explorer and went to work... I started at the bottom of the hill and was making my way to towards the top.. I wasn't really griding the area,. Just kinda wondering trying to get a feel for the coil.. I thought hat it was going to be heavy... But to my surprise the, just shortening the lower shaft a bit,, Made it balance out really nice.. The weight wasn't bad at all.. I'm not sure about swinging it all day,, But it was nice for my hour and a half hunt! When I got to the top of the hill I came across a deep jumpy signal.. I circled, and circled it again.. I was thinking of passing.. But I was like,, What the heck... I opened up a pretty decent size plug,, stuck my probe in and Null..I dug around a bit and pulled out half a nail... NOT good... I put the probe back in again,, and again null... I pulled out the other half of the nail.. What the heck??? I stood up swept over the hole.. and and got a better signal this time... I pinpointed and it was a little far back,. I opened up another plug,, sorta in the shape of a half moon.. Put my probe back in,,, And Null.. I was started to get a little Pi#$# off,,, I pulled out the nail... But the probe in and BEEP... I got a nice high tone... I dug down another 3 inches and discover a 1944 wheat... Then I was really P#@$@ off because I spent all that time for a wheaty LOL... I'm going to try and not make this post a book,,,, So I took about for more steps and got another signal... This was hitting kinda low.. Lower than an Indian,.. But I could hear a sweet hight tone as well... After circling it for 2 minutes I opened up the plug and pulled out a a wide, thin piece of copper ... I stuck it in my bag,,
