Todays Hunt (some silver)

Got out to a new town nearby. Found an old high school which had been converted to an admin building. Got 13 wheaties, two silver dimes, and two FFA pins. Unfortunately, the pins are junk metal. The mercs are 1941P and 1917S. I have never found a merc older than 1920 before. Building was built in 1927 so older merc circulated at least 10 years before being lost there. It looks it too! LOL!

At this location, most of the keepers were at least 5-6in deep. Some were 8-9 in.

Notice how the older Mercs we find usually have a lot of wear. People held on tight to their coins back then, couldn't afford to lose them.

Agreed, 10 cents was a significant amt of money then and the level of affluence was much lower than we are accustomed to today...
