Got out with Jihn Lowe and the gang today to do a little hunting. Found my first Artillery fuse plug, just curious as to which shell it may have come from :shrug . Any help will be appreciated :biggrin
Thanks and hh...

from looking through the M&M CW projectiles II book. It looks like a CS copper-brass time fuse adapter for Read elongated shell or case shot. Hope this helps.

Your on a roll!!! Scott is correct, and if you notice the black looking paint on your fuse; that's pitch (asphaltum) which indicates it was used as a Case Shot fuse. Could fit a number of CS shells however. Find a fuse and that leads to Case Shot; which leads to finding Sabot (Say-bow); which leads to SHELLS! Search in All Metal and listen for BIG sounds. Many shells will only be 6" or so. No problem hearing them in All Metal. Good hunting, David @ Dixie

How far from where I found the fuse at should I spread out??? There is lots of iron signals, this place used to be a horse farm.
Thanks and hh...

Frags could spread out over a large area, plus the battery could have moved forward or towards a different battle front. After using Disc mode to find the non ferrous Sabot, fuse and case shot relics, I would then switch to All Metal and dig any larger sounding iron targets. Most shells (complete) won't be that deep. The deepest shell I've yet dug was my first; a 6 pounder solid shot at 14 inches. Most shells are 6-12 inches deep. Some can be deeper but not normally under normal conditions. Good hunting, David @ Dixie
