Was able to get out this morning with my buddy. Finally the ground was thawed and soft enough to dig comfortably.
We hit a house we had never hunted before first off for the day. It was a nice big yard but, sadly there was just not much to find.
I was able to get a 1899 IH and a 1919 Wheat and what appears to be an old brass gas valve. My buddy found a 1918D Wheat and the back of an old Pocket Watch a clad quarter and stinking zincoln.
We then looked for some other places to hunt but, being a Monday most everyone was at work or out. On the way home we hit a old homestead that produced pretty good for us at the end of last year.
Luckily the owner is retired and was home and gave us the go ahead.
I hunted on the other side of the driveway which separates the front yard and my very first dig turned out to be a 1900 IH. Sadly I nailed it on the edge though ever so slightly.
As I got up I rechecked the area and got another good IH hit just a foot away.
I dug down and pulled out a nice big clod and probed it and out fell a 1901 IH and then out came a 1902 IH. What a surprise to get three Indians all within a foot of each other.
The weather was beautiful today and the ground was like butter unless you hit a real shady area.
This was my second hunt of 2014 and it could not have turned out better. Odd I dug four consecutive year Indians. You can see the one yard must have had very little fertilizer over the years compared too the other three that came from the last place. Three green and one dark brownish green.
Pictured below are my four Indians as dug, the group finds for the day (minus the our two Wheat's but, plus the junk), photo of the IHs and Wheat's washed off and then a picture of my hunting buddy at the old homestead we hunted last for the day.
Thanks for looking and HH all.
