Todays Gold and Silver, hit's by an old building and waterfall

Today I went with the coin and jewelry program. There is a old building next to my house with a water fall in back. I blocked out everything except the bigger silver coins and came up with a lot of old clad quarters more or less making way for the deeper coins and once I got this spot cleared out pretty good I got a strong +86 and previously pulling a few other halves with the Vision I knew I had another. This is the third half I have pulled all came up as +86 unlike the DFX that hits silver and clad halves at +88.

I was pretty happy with that hit and time was short so I put it in some oil and changed up the discriminator to hunt rings another lucky gold day it's a small 10k but I'll take it. I love the graph on the Vision I mean I can pretty much avoid everything and I don

Wow

What kind of oil? and why?

Take care, Dave

Nice finds. Congratulations!

You can save the programs. First definitions: Library programs are stored in Flash memory and do not get altered. Loaded programs are the programs you are running with your changes applied. So, first you need to go to the expert menu:
1) (assuming you don't have menu button set to go to the expert menu by default), press menu/tab to get to the 6 block menu. Press menu/tab again and a list of options should come up. Scroll down to the bottom and select expert menu. (Sorry if you know this, I never know what people know so I just start at the beginning).
2) go to Program/ New/Copy
A new dialog box appears. Scroll down to "Loaded Program" and press enter. In the selection box, select the program your are running from (Coin and Jewelry).
Menu/tab to get to the Name box, and press enter to bring up the "keyboard" Use arrow keys to move to characters, enter to select characters. When done typing in the name, press menu/tab to exit from the "keyboard".
Menu/tab again to get to the create button and press enter. At this time you should have a new program with the settings you had set in your coin and jewelry program. You can at this time restore your coin and jewelry settings using the restore option if you wish. Very similar to this screen. But I noticed that it defaulted to wanting to restore my newly created program, so you want to make sure that the name of the program you are restoring is coin and jewelry rather than your new program name though.

Hope that helps a little.

Saving the programs isn't bad. It depends if you have the changes already made on one of the V3 programs or you want to make them to a new program. Let me know and I'll give you the step by step. So far I have saved a modified C/J and Hi Pro program.

Nice finds. Rob

Lets start with the easy one Dave you don

I don't know if you tried this - but say you wanted to reject VDIs from 33 to 87 (just an example). Start with 33 selected. press enter to reject 33. Release enter. Now, press enter and hold it down while using the down arrow key. You should see the others get rejected as well.

Sarah...excellent description on the use of oil. I deal with coins to make a living working in a coin shop, and an oil soak is an established procedure in safely lifting "funk" off a coin without having to go "mechanical". Do we do it to all "dirty" coins...no. Only for organic adhesion and never for coins that only have toning and color. It IS paramount to get the grit away from the surface as scratches ARE A BIG DEAL. A detectorist dropping by with truly rare (and damaged) coins happens occasionally. Puts us all in a "funk".

Water rinse, oil soak, soap and water rinse. Then get it to a numismatist. (No rubbing, wiping or chems.) OH YEAH...Don't wipe to check the date!

Now that is sweet, is this stuff in the manual? I dont think so I read the manual this is great now I dont have to block out one number at a time:surrender: As far as the coins go ever since I lost my first date off a large cent. From there on out I carry oil even if its pured in some type of cup until I get home.

Also any program good or bad ya I'll take it if it can use some modifying than so be it if it's good the way it is even better. This is really good that they have this site I know without it I have made some good finds but I've already learned so much by all you guys. Thank you for your help, I really wanted to get back out to that waterfall I know the land behind it is teaming with old silver:inlove:.

Thanks again!!!

Sarah
