Todays Ghost Town Hunt

New member
Went out on this fine day to try my luck at my old ghost town again. I had just gotten my Explorer SE back from Minelab after a repair. I wanted to see how stable it would be in this trashy area. Today I had lots of hits in the low tone area. I dug many flat buttons, musket balls and a few small parts that i believe were from shoes. The tag near the top has the word patent on it. I wondered how many years the Patent System went back. I did find a very trashy area that I will hit again soon with a small coil. I believe it is the area where the courthouse once stood next to the town square. There was lots of broken bricks and sandstone lying around the area. I forgot to mention this ghost town dates from 1809-1843. Thanks and Happy Hunting.

Thanks Minelab for Awesome Detectors.

Some mighting find digs for sure.
Seven plus pefect looking rounders makes for a nice day. Hit that again and again and I bet you pull atleast one decent old coin.

The earliest English patent grant is dated April 3, 1449.
Massachusetts granted its first exclusive right for use of an invention 1646.
The first United States patent was issued on July 31, 1790.

Thanks Big D. You need to get Bryce down here to hunt this trashy area. lol. Should find some Large Cents and maybe some Spanish Reales.

just a question, is your site littered with iron nails? I took my machine with the 6x8 sef coil to a semminar last saturday, it was ran by Monte, another member on this site, keep in mind i have never hunted a ghost town, monte is an expert. he pulled out the nail board test and my explorer failed horribly, compaired to old tesoro's and white's the tesoro was from 1983, i didnt realize how slow the target sepparation on mine was, i am invited to hunt one of his ghosttown's in june and i do not want be wasting my time with the explorer and i do not want to buy a new machine, can you tell me a little about how you would set yours up,and what problems you have encountered

Yes, my ghost town has a lot of iron and square nails. It is now farm land that is tilled quite often. I have to swing very slow, but I do quite well with my Explore SE. I would need to know how you set yours up first to tell you what to change if anything. HH
