Today's finds

My hunting buddy and I went to a friend's house today and got up a little hunt in his yard.
The home dates back to 1870 and used to belong to a station master for the railroad.
That probably explains the baggage tags we found around the property.
We found 3 today and the owner has found 4 others since he moved in.
We have been finding many wheat pennies dating back to 1917, but only 2 silver coins. 1 was a 1950 quarter and today I found a 1927 merc dime in the field behind the house.
Also found was a 1940 British large penny.
The easy signals are not as plentiful now. so maybe we need to try larger coils to get more depth.
I dug a 1918 wheat today and it was a measured 6" in the ground not counting the grass height.
I was impressed with this find since I was using the 6" dd coil on the X-terra 50. It gave a nice signal and a postive ID of 36.
I have heard of reports of this coil getting amazing depth and found out today for myself.
One of the tags was so deep, that I almost gave up on it thinking it was a large piece of iron.... glad I kept digging LOL!!
I also found the 1995 quarter which appears to have be shot.
Any experts on R.R baggage tags here about? I would like to know the value if any on these tags and the approx. age.
Thanks for looking,
Felix

Hey Y'all,
I found these two items on my property on New Year's Day and was hoping that someone might know what they are. The square tin is 2" x 1 3/4" and the round lid is 1 1/2" in diameter. The both have the same lines w/ a small rectangle tucked away in the corner. The only difference is that the lid has 2 lines around the rectangle where the tin has 1 line around the rectangle. The tin has a lid on it with an opening in the back. Our theory is that it was a wooden matchbox holder w/ the striker missing...any ideas?
