Hello Teknetics users,

Haven't posted here in a while and back then my user name was "Paul (Ca)," Changed my user name to (Old California) since I now search more areas through out the state of Ca.

Today, Using the T-2 managed to get an 1854 1/2 dime and some old buttons and a few old age conductors, My friend Denny found the larger clock key and a piece of old copper plus a Henry shell. My other friend El couldn't make the hunt but do look forward to hunting with him soon.

I'm enclosing a picture of a few finds from today, Just one coin but still a good day. Before I forget, Here's a list of the better finds, Not bad for searching in the rain as it was pouring cats and dogs during our two hour hunt plus the 400 mile round trip.

1854 1/2 dime,
Mission era button,
solid ball button,
Smashed Victorian Ball button,
Long john button,
Clock key, ,
Pocket watch key,
Smashed musket ball,
Other interesting finds,

Old Ca.

Sounds like you had a long day, but a good hunt. How did you protect the T2 in the rain? I've been thinking about that lately myself, not that we are getting any rain.

Finally got my hands on your Golden. Like the mod on the faceplace. Would of sent you mine, but the wife wasn't willing to let it go

I'm asuming you were hunting in the 2+ mode as you had hunted that way before? Curious about your gb and fe readings too.

HH

Mike

What and awesome display of your great finds.
It's in my collection of finds pictures and I'll show it off for you too!
Great Job! And thanks for posting your day of finds with your friend!

Thanks KCK,

The T-2 has replaced my Explorer for the serious older sites, As a relic machine my T-2 is now on top of the ladder followed by the Explorer.

My buddy was using the Explorer while I used the T-2 and between the two detectors my T-2 found twice the finds he did and we are both equally skilled hunters, Maybe some luck had some part of the recover but this seems to be the trend the past hunts. Somehow the T-2 appears to be finding more?

Thanks again,
Old Cal.

Hi Mike,

So you have one of my little Golden uMax units :) I think I did four of them with the GB pot mounted to the face place.....Very nice machines for schools and such.

We used plastic bags to cover the T-2 and Explorer face plates and it did keep the rain out, Since we're hunting an old site we dug everything above iron so we didn't need to worry about cherry picking our finds as any signal above iron would be a keeper at this old site which is an old town now a plowed field.

Used the zero discrimination setup with the 2+ mode which allows me to hear everything reducing the chance of masking, Used the quick grab GB as this particular soil is good and the T-2 operated fantastic! Love the T-2 for relic hunting, Can't see myself using anything else :)

Thanks Mike and HH,
Old Cal.

[attachment 27731 P4300806.JPG]Paul how do you hunt for your relics. As you know I found some cool pre 1850 finds where I live but the ground was clean except for some iron there were no trash targets in the ground. The ground was still a bit moist so there was a lot of masking going on. I was wondering from the last time we spoke...Do you hunt in all metal mood and dig all targets or use no discrim in non metal mood and look for tagets above iron and dig those targets? I may have a chance to go back and detect the area I found the buckle at and was hoping for some of your wisdom. I use the white's 6000 XL pro and a Fisher 70pro.

How do you deal with masking and is my fisher and whites going to have problems with masking compared to the T2 and some of the other detectors you use?

Thanks Lawrenzo/LCPM

Hello Lawrenzo,

WTG on your recent finds and discovery of the old Calvary camp site, Good things happen to good people, you and your buddy deserve a metal....Outstanding!

I do hunt in all metal but use the all metal ID disc feature, iron gives off a lower audio signal and with using the 2+ tone feature I dig the higher tone above the lower iron tone and of course use zero discrimination to reduce masking.

To be honest, In order to get maximum separation in older sites laced with iron go with a proven detector capable of peeking between the cracks. Some of the older line of Compass detectors did a good job but lacked depth, From my experience, both the MXT and the T-2 out perform the others at the sites laced with iron.

Fishers love iron and the 6000 XL pro will not fare well with separation at the older iron ridden sites, I really wish you would consider going back to the Tekentics T-2 with the type of sites you hunt.

Keep up the good work, You made a major discovery last month :)

Old Cal,

Good to hear your forum voice again Eddie :)

As you can see I'm back in the saddle only branching out further in the hills of Ca.

Thanks again,
Old Cal.

Maybe at a later date I'll post all of the recent finds made with the T-2, Been having some good hunting lately.

Thanks again, Paul
