Todays Finds

I went out on a dive this morning at 5:30 am at the local spot that I have been going to the past couple of weeks. I hunted for about 3 hours and the results are below. I got rather excited when I pulled the one ring, but it turned out being 925 cz. Not plat with a real diamond as I had hoped for today. Total count was 3 silver rings and one gold, all in all a good day. Had 2 scuba tanks left but we were chased out by terrible weather and so the rest of the rings will have to wait for next week. I hope you enjoy the pics, I have pulled 2 gold rings and 5 silver rings in the past 2 hunts at this spot. I can't wait to get back there next week and see what else I can find.

I am not surprised - it certainly looks impressive, I would have had the same reaction and the same disappointment........ Super gold ring - excellent find. You have a nice 'hotspot' in that area for rings, will be interesting to see just how many you pull out of there....... and next time that 925 may well be a sweet 950.

I have to get an excal............. the stuff that comes out of the low tidal area just keeps tempting me to want to get my feet wet.

Wow! super great ring finds. Look at all those pulltabs! Cleaning up the environment and cashing in / having fun at the same time. I wish I lived near the ocean or even a body of water that has a beach lol. Beach hunting / water hunting sounds like a barrel of fun! Thanks for posting - it keeps me motivated to find my first GOLD ring - Jim

Thanks everyone for your replies. If you haven't tried diving with an Excal, YOU HAVE TO DO IT!!!!! Sorry for the caps overload but once you detect while diving, and see what you pull from the most random spots of water, you will never turn back. Dive-detecting is the most peaceful/rewarding activity that I have come across. Once you get into diving, you will see that there are "hot spots," however, I have yet to go diving in ANY type of water that hasn't brought home something interesting. I really like land detecting, but I love dive-detecting.

Here is a picture of all the rings I have found, at 3 different lake locations, within the last 3 weeks. This represents my finds after about 12-15 hours hunting total.

Words fail me so I will just say WOW

Thanks, I appreciate it. Yeah, its a really good spot that will produce weekend after weekend as hundreds of people meet up there with boats and party every weekend, However, there are zillions of pull tabs to clean up along the way. My first hunt there, I must have pulled about 300 pull tabs in the first couple of hours. Digging those pull tabs pays off though. If there is one thing I have learned to enjoy digging in the past few weeks, its pull tabs. Where there are pull tabs, there are good targets. I was complaining about pull tabs on the E-Trac forum a couple of weeks ago because they have been frustrating me, but now I take it all back. I have been digging pull tabs like crazy (in water and on land) and my finds have increased dramatically. I always dug pull tabs in water, but I have been skipping them with the E-Trac until very recently. Another good thing about pull tabs is that they tell me one very important detail; they tell me if the spot has been hunted or not. An area that has tons of pull tabs means that there hasn't been much local competition for that spot. If you find a spot that has a ton of pull tabs, focus on that spot and dig everything. That is my secret lately and it has been an incredibly successful approach.

I wish all of you the best of luck and I thank you for reading. -Marc
