I took advantage of some cooler weather today and hunted an old home site that has given up some
good finds in the past, but today was my best day yet.
I got an 1880 indian head cent, a large cent ( no date ), a .52 cal.sharps, a .58 cal. minnie ball ( I believe ), some kind of shell casing, a small buckle, and a one piece cast artillary button.
I could use some help with the dating on the button if someone can help me out.
The little Vaquero sniffed out these goodies... this little detector never ceases go amaze me.. simple yet effective!!
Thanks for looking,
Felix

Great finds.....I don't hunt in the summer but I enjoy seeing other people finding nice things and it reallly gives me the fever. Can't wait until fall

FW...I'm thinking your very nice artillery button may be pre-Civil War. I'm thinking around 1820 to 1830. Here are a couple of pics of a button from that era. I'm not real sure however I have recovered quite a number of Eagle buttons dating from the CW and all of them have been two-piece buttons. TomB
