Today's Finds

Had a decent day hunting with one of my regular hunting partners.

We hunted an old school.

He had the best find of the day: a 1944 Washington Quarter.

I was able to manage 3 silver dimes and 4 wheaties with a fair amount of clad.

The dimes were a 51D Rosie along with two Merc's: a 42D and a 44D. The two Merc's were stuck together in the same hole.
First time that's happened to me. Odd thing is they read 12 - 43 on the E-Trac. I thought I had another deep wheatie.
They were about 8 inches deep which may explain the lower reading.

It's springtime boys and the silver is calling. Will you answer the call?

My finds are pictured below.

That's a good day in my book! Is there any depth stratification at this site, i.e. can you reverse cherry-pick for older, deeper coins only if you want to? If I'm on my game, I can usually end up digging more wheaties than memorials, etc. Nice hunt. - Jim

Of the approx 20 wheaties we found from the last two weekends, only one was shallow at about 2"; most were much deeper. All 5 silver coins we found were at least 6" deep. So the answer to your question is yes, we could narrow our search and hunt only old coins by digging only deep targets. That is something I do regularly when hunting/digging conditions are difficult like extremely hot weather or very hard ground.

That's some nice hunting! Congrats on the silver, wheats and all your finds!
