I took a day off for my birthday and called my buddy to get together for a hunt.
We decided to try a couple of sites we had hunted before that gave up a couple of nice finds.
The first site was an old home that dates back to about 1890.
There was alot of junk in the yard and hard hunting, but we did manage a few newer coins and one shot up nickel.
My buddy did find a nice silver ring there also.
Later we tried the site of an old church that no longer stands and only the foundation still exists.
We have found two silver coins, a few wheat pennies, and one indian head cent here so far, and thought there may be something still here.
We hunted hard for about 2 hours and only had 3 memorial pennies to show for our efforts.
We took a break trying to think of another place nearby, but only had about an hour left to hunt, so we decided to stick it out here for another hour.
I don't know how I managed to get these signals this time around, but I went over some of the same area I had hunted earlier and in less than an hour, I found 3 more pennies including two 1919 wheaties, a 1901 barber dime, and an 1893 Indian head cent.
The signals were not very good and the ID was jumping all over the place, but I decided to dig since the numbers at times read in the coin range.
What put the icing on the cake for today was that I found a 1960 penny which was the year I was born and today is my birthday!!!! I got a couple of other pennies dated 1961, and 1964 and the rest were 1970's and zincs.
I'm glad we couldn't come up with another spot nearby and decided to stay and stick it out.... it paid off this time!!
Thanks for looking,
Felix
