Sorry about the quality of the photo. These are all From a yankee artillery battary is Suffolk, VA. Can someone tell me what the round piece is? The melted lead was in a low area between two artillery batteries... I suppose they had a camp fire there since is was in a gully between the two batteries. I don't know if the bullet is CW era or not. Anyone know?

If I have my picture scales right (good to usually put a ruler or coin in the picture) looks like you have a modern bullet and a side plate washer from an Enfield rifle. Your bullet might be modern. See if there are small grooves inside the big groove going around the diameter of the bullet. I might be totally wrong if my scale of the picture is off.

That's it alright!!! It's just a hair smaller than a nickel. What's it made of? At first I thought it was lead because of its weight and the fact that it came out of the hole without any rust or decay. After looking at it again I can see that it isn't lead.
