Todays Finds with the Yellow Feller (250)

I hit a spot my buddy told me about with the Ace 250 today. They just torn down the old Lumber Yard Building and that good old black dirt was every where. I only got to detect for about 30 minutes before the local 5-O came up to me and ran me off. What a shame and I even had verbal permission from the owner, but not in writing, which he wanted to see. So lesson learned, get it in writing. Well at least I did get a few good finds before the Axe fell !!!

If you had the owner's permission to hunt on private property why did the cop even bother with you? It's none of his business unless you're breaking the law and I doubt there is an ordinance that prohibits metal detecting on private property without the owners written permission. Odd situation. That said, those are some real nice finds. You have to get back there ASAP.

Hey Chris

This place is downtown and our Mayor is not the friendliest person to get along with and neither are our 5-0. I tried to call the owner while I was there with 5-0 and he didn't answer his phone, so better off not causing a scene, because I might run into him later on down the road at another place.

Most of the local cops where I live ignore me, and if they do stop it's usually to ask what I've found. There is this one place I hunt where they have trouble with cars and four wheelers doing doughnuts on the grass and I have taken down a few vehicle descriptions for them too. I also spotted a broken window at a school one morning which narrowed down the time frame when somebody had broken in. Probably would not have been noticed until Monday morning instead of Saturday. As my territory is expanding I always have the jitters the first time or two at a new spot. In almost every instance law enforcement is friendly and accommodating when they spot me. How many times have you heard a cop say, "I have a metal detector. Wish I had the time to use it." They also usually have ideas about new spots to try. Then you run into that one cop who sees everybody as the bad guy, or merely enjoys pushing people around as it seems you did.

I'll be watching for the rest of your photos after you get written permission.

Chris

PS I'd vote that mayor out ASAP.

Great finds. With those possibility, I'd get written permission and get back down there pronto.

Hey Chris

I wish I could Vote Her out, but I live in the County and not in the city, so I can't vote on that issue. But anyways I guess I just ran into a bad or grouch cop this morning. I think he is new, haven't seen him around before. Well I hate to Disappoint you on the more photos, but this afternoon they filled in with the red clay dirt and compact it in for a new building going up so what was there is going to stay there. That's a shame too I know there is probably more Silver in there because of just what I found this morning and I didn't even get a third of it detected.

Yeah he just ran into one of those cops who is all swollen up with his $1.98 worth of authority and likes to throw his weight around. Every city has a few.

Bill.
