Today's finds with new mxt pro

Well hello all and it nice to meet all of you treasure hunters. This is my first post as a member and I'm really excited to chat with all of you.
I took my mxt pro out today to a ocal soccer field for its maiden voyage. I was really pleased with how accurate the display was in describing was was beneath it. I totalled almost 5.00 in clad change in 3 hours. I was hoping for some silver but came up allittle short. I was using the stock 12" coil which made the machine a little nutty a times because of all the trash, but still seamed to pinpoint some good targets. I'm looking for a new coil to search mainly parks and fields. Here on long island everywhere seams to be trashy so I'm looking for a coil to deal with that. I just don't want to sacrifice depth or change in vdi numbers. I am very pleased with the performance of the mxt pro and am excited to finally meet all and chat with you fellow treasures hunters. Thanks for reading. Frank

Welcome to the forum Frank,
Sounds like you had a good Maiden Voyage with your MXT Pro.
There are many many knowledgeable people on this forum and I'm sure if you have a question it will get answered here...
For me my main coil on my MXT Pro is the Eclipse DD (6x10) Search Coil. It's not to heavy and hunts between trash and has good depth.
The D2 10" DD coil separates the trash very well, but loves bottle caps. But you get used to that and learn to tell them from the quarters.
The D2 has a little better depth than the 6X10 and I think it weighs a little less than the 300 12" coil.
And I find that there is very little if any variation in VDI #s from coil to coil.
Hope this is helpful'
Good luck on the next hunt and send us some pictures of your finds....
We love pictures...

Welcome to the forum Frank. We have a group of wonderful people here and they are all willing to help. Congrats on your finds and that silver will come soon. Keep using that machine and you'll do yourself proud. Also researching on older properties is a major plus for finding silver and getting permission is a must. HH, Nancy

[size=large]the most recommended coils i read about are the 6x10 DD, 5.3 concentric and the 950 concentric. all for regular park and sports centers w/ trashy spots.few use the 12. you'll go back over the spots you just cleared using a smaller coil now and maybe clean-up another $5.00 and maybe find the elusive ring or silver that was hidden by the first layer. the learning curve is short and the fun is great. welcome to the fun center.

hi, I'm new at this game too. I have a mxt pro, with a 12" 300 coil that i had for a month. i didn't get out today. my first time out my detector said, a button. but when i dug up the ground it was a wheel drum off of an old car about 8"down. when my son removed the drum. there was an old pair of shorts with a button on it. I found other things but nothing of value yet. I took it down to the beach, and my detector was going nuts and didn't find a thing. after looking in my manual, and looking at the net. trying to find an answer. I called kellyco hopping to get a answer. they told me that i need a doubt d butterfly coil. Does anybody know if this is true. mickey

Hi Mouseman, using the 12" coil on the wet sand at the beach is not ideal....it will give a lot of instability and falsing.A dd coil such as the butterfly coil or whites own 10x6 coil will settle the machine down a bit more. However, the mxt is not the perfect wet sand detector and it will always chatter a bit on wet sand.If you want a detector with awesome wet sand performance minelabs multi frequency units are difficult to beat.I use a sovereign gt and it will beat my mxt pro hands down on the wet sand in both depth and stability.Inland the mxt is still one of the best.....the more you use it the more you will start to find.....it just needs some practice.I use the 8x6 butterfly coil on mine and find it to be excellent......great depth, stable and excellent seperation......it's also very light.
Regards,Neil.

I bought my daughter a MXT Pro and use the beach to test how it works and field testing, found 8 euros and a Christ of gold, as well depth and voice coil 12 "need to learn patience, but I like the way he works as if VDI good metal numbers are stable, but if garbage, vdi dancer
but there is still much to learn

thank you,for your inputs.Beside my 12' coil I have a eclipse 5.3 that i havn't used yet. I hope to get out today with it,and find some treasures. I been thinking about buying an excelerator sef 12+15 butterfly to improve my treasure hunt at the beach. once again thank for the info.

Thanks guys and gals for all of your responses. I'm looking forward to getting my dd 6x10 coil. Every time I use my detected with the 12" coil I think there is something wrong with the machine because of all the chatter. But from what your all saying the smaller coils will quiet the machine down a bit. I really hope so because I can't swing it once without it making some sort of noise . Thanks again everyone talk to u soon. Ps. Anyone on the site from long island. If so let me know maybe we could get together and hunt.

You can't go wrong with the 6x10 it is a great coil on the MXT.

yesterday, for the first time I used my eclipse 5.3 and it did good. it was picking up things that my 12" 300 over looked, and didn't have all the noise all over the place like the 12" had. but, on the other hand it was a lot smaller, and more shallower than the 12". same kind of coil just smaller and handy. I been doing metal detecting for a month now,and I see myself getting more experience at the game. I bought a 10 by12 dd butterfly for the beach and I'm waiting for it to come in the mail. hoping that it works crescent city,ca

Hey mouse man . Metal detecting is one addictive hobby. If you find yourself wanting to do a lot of beach detecting I would definitely recommend the mine lab Excalibur 11. . It's definitely a gold magnet with discrimination. I like he mxt for the land and the Excalibur and pulse for the beaches. Just my two sense .
