New to here and with the mxt want to share my finds for today, went out to local park here in magna just outside salt lake city found a costume ring,22 case, old fork and 4 clad pennies all in same hole and a clad quarter. But not sure I'm getting the hang of locating deeper targets I think I have gain set too high. I get barely repeatable sounds but when I dig a hole nothing there. I also think maybe my pinpointer is affected by my machine signal cause when probing hole I get indication of metal but dig and dig and find nothing any help would be appreciated my pinpointer is garrett pro pointer

[size=large]i have yet to not find metal in a hole my garrett pp says is in there. your mxt machine will re-act with the garrett but doesn't make it sound off when there's no metal. your pp will track very tiny pieces of metal.
you can't screw-up on the mxt. it's a very simple machine really. make sure your disc. is set correctly and that you've ground balanced it correctly. it won't ground balalnce if your switch is set to lock. the more you work with it , the better you will get and the more and better targets you will find.

Hello I gotta say you are 100% correct  the garrett pro pointer does interfer with the MXT so i traded it for a sunray DX-1 and wont look back!! plus my chances of loseing it in the woods is slim too none.Thanxs sas

[size=large]i got my MXT PRO with a DX-1 already mointed. tried it out and it does do okay but i removed mine because of the weight. now it doesn't weigh alot to most but with my shoulders it got heavy quicker. i agree with the can't lose bit. one con i found out was remembering to set the switch back to coil. i hunted half a soccer field before i realized i was hunting with probe and of course it's mounted up the shaft. the garrett is stilll my fav. it's faster and i am very careful to not just put it on the ground and get distracted and then leave it. they both have their pro's and con's. hope you folks enjoy your choces.

I've got both types of Pinpointers. I like the fact that the DX-1 is always on the detector, but of course it isn't transferable to another. The Pro Pointer is a great pointer, but I hooked a plastic, coiled cord to mine and hook it to my belt so I can't leave it behind by accident.
