got another house from my Craig's list ad I keep placing, that is the 3rd house so far, as seems to be working well. Here are my finds from today. Was a bit disappointing I did not find older coins, the house was built in 1890, oldest wheat was 1949..........

1952 silver dime, part of a silver spoon, 3 wheats, and a 1954 Canadian penny, a cufflink and little clad......

Ahh, someone who has gone detecting this weekend!!!!! nice finds. interesting spoon. I cant wait to get out again. work is full on.

Congrats on the very nice hunt! I like that spoon, very cool for sure. Nice silver and wheats also! They are always a good find, Beale.

What do you say in your advert? as I want to do this here but Im not sure how to word it yours seem to be working...... 3 houses is good.
whats the main points you have to make, do you have to offer owner half value of what you find? because over here everyone thinks that a 1901 penny is worth alot of money if they see me detecting and I show them something Old = money$$$ to the general public. but I guess I wouldn't mind paying half cat value for a nice pre 1900 silver I found on some ones yard. I would just hate to find a gold coin !! Thanks so much, I havent hunted an old yard yet just parks etc. there are plenty of them around but I feel so silly asking. " I would like to look for relics with my detector like buckles and pennys," which in all honesty is what you will find but they will hear it as "Can I dig up your yard to find valuable treasure" (so you can sell it and make lots of money). I guess I could let them have all the pennys etc just couldn't bear to part with a pre 1900 coin ot a pre 1921 silver. good to hear what you guys think. thanks

well I have never split anything, so far every owner has told me to feel free to keep whatever I find. Most are just curious to see what was in their yard.

I post an ad in the wanted section that is titled "looking for old houses to metal detect" feel free to modify it and use it .........and ad says this:
My friend and I both live in ******* , and love to hunt for old relics, coins, etc. Not for profit, just for the excitement of digging up pieces of history.
We are currently looking for a few more places in the area to detect. Mainly older homes and properties built before the 1940

Thanks, I have copied it to a file and may slightly modify it for NZ conditions (LOL) . good to hear how other people are doing it.
