Todays finds :smile: ID HELP NEEDED :shrug:

I found these on a battle site in Va.. The oval plate with the #1 is what I need an ID for. It is made of solid brass and is around 1/8" thick. When I saw it in the bottom of the hole I just knew I had a belt or box plate. DANG IT!!!! Any ideas?

A dairy cow tag......found a few before...thought they were buckles before I got em all the way out of da hole.
They tagged em so they kept track of who was milked and when.
 
I think this is my last year in New England.....I just can't take the long winters here. I get so friggin depressed I just sit around and do nothing.
I can't see how Vern made it all those years in Alaska....I could not do it.
I have 3 acres of land in Az. we are working on getting to. Time to live the last 1/3 of my life in warmer climates.
Until then I hope we have a nice spring....I would like to close out my NH detecting with a nice season....last spring was the pits.
Of course a NE Shilling would top of my 23 years here just fine.
 
..it was down a foot or more and I saw the round oval shaped edge and it was brass...I just knew it was a buckle.,....I was jumping...until it cam out and had a big ole 15 on it.
I cried
