Hi All
Working a place that has been cleared and graded near old church. This hilltop saw Confederate occupation taken by Union and then saw Confederate guerilla activity there after. This is located in middle tennessee and one of those gem places helped by a D9 cat! These buckles were found about 10 feet apart,I have found a few sharps minis and .58,.69 cals also but I`m more interested in the buckles id and help would be great!Much more here I`m sure!
Thanking in advance
Marc

Your brass item is a civilian Martingale Plate. I found one exactly like yours at an old house site some years ago and have seen several since. Could it have been used by CS forces? Possibly but until we know it was prewar or wartime we can only speculate. They are nice finds. Good hunting, David@Dixie

The iron loop with the cross member is half of a Loose-Ring Snaffle, a.k.a. a "watering bit".

Nice finds,

Kim
