Today's finds (fuse id help)

New member
I have hunted this area 20+ times and today with the Tejon I found a few items I had missed walked right over in the last year. Any help on an id for the fuse and the shell

THanks

About the shell nose-fragment:
The nose's curvature and length of the fuzehole indicate the frag is most likely to be a piece of a Parrott (US), Read-Parrot (US), or Long-model Read shell (CS). If the width of that frag's fuzehole (EXCLUDING THE RUST-CONCRETION) is .95-inch, it's Confederate-made ...and if the hole's width is around 1.05, it's Yankee-made.

About the "fuze" (in the top photo):
I am absolutely certain that it's not a fuze, or even a part of one.
(Gee, I really dislike being "the bearer of bad news." Sorry.)

Keep searching the surrounding area digger. There should be more of the shell around the vicinity. Maybe you'll find the fuse or sabot. Good hunting, David @ Dixie
