Today I went back to the field that I checked out at the end of yesterday and I had another good day there. Since it's a cornfield it was slow going today. All I did today was the end rows and it took me all day to do them.
Randy, a lil fellow up on your tips that you gave me for working the farm fields. I have been running in AM about 50% of the time. When I get in those areas that is loaded with iron, I go back to pattern 1. I just don't care for all that noise, lol. I have been checking my GB a lot more now and I think that has helped me the most at getting more depth. The field that I was in today, the GB #'s are anywhere from 28 to 42. I have been real surprised at how much the ground changes in the farm fields.

but I'm convinced with tracking on, the detector falses more when it bounces off the remaining vegetation. Particularly when the coil "lifts" between the roots. I could lower the Sensitivity and reduce some of that noise. But doing so would also reduce the depth of detection and the sensitivity to small targets. (half dimes and silver 3-cent pieces) Since I'm not able to maintain a consistent height above the ground (due to the downed stalks), the GB would be updating constantly and would likely never be perfect at any one time. Therefore, I chose to run my sensitivity at max and set the GB manually. It keeps my detector more stable, reduces most of the falsing tones, allowing me to sweep more quickly (and stop to confirm less often) as I travel down the field. But as with so many other "style preferences", each of us need to try the different approaches and do what works best for us. JMHO HH Randy
