I had an hour or so to spare this PM and went to a site I have that is just about where the Collier home was in 1864. It is in the area where the 33rd. Mississippi, http://home.att.net/~captnerdo/peachtre.htm , was on July 20th 1864. Some federal soldiers loaded these into their guns and shot them at the Mississippi boys with the intent to kill... that was then, this is now. Do you ever think about that when you find a bullet? That they loaded it in battle, fired it, and the next person to touch it is you...
It is not a large site but has been good to me. There are three pictures. The good stuff, the junk, and an old tag that I found in the same spot a few months ago.
The "good stuff" picture has two minnies, an old dog tag (I think), and a small brass finneal of some kind.
The junk picture has a couple of "hot rocks" and a couple of old nails. I left the nails in because I wonder if someone can tell me why they get these knots or bumps on them?
