I'm thinking of getting a shorty but not sure on the size chart
which one would fit me. I'm 6'2", 180 lbs, 34 in waist, and 40 chest.
The size charts are a little cryptic to me, since I have never purchased one before, so maybe you can decipher the code and pass on the insight this way.
"Maybe there more like guidelines".

not real shure on how to size em. It's best to try them on at a local dealer.Once you find out then you can look around for a used one. This one is a mans large.
