Hunted at farm my Uncle manages. It has been gone over before. I started at an area with an old bording house. I have hit this house with every detector I have owned. Today with my 70 was by far my best day. I was hitting clads from the 60's (after '64). Then would hit an occasional wheatie from the '30's. Thinking there has got to be some silver, come on give me a silver rosie and I'll be happy. Then I hit the standing liberty. Go figure. Must be from pre 1924, based on the date being worn smooth. Also found a couple of bridle tags and a buckle. Using the standard coin mode with a notch removed on each side of the nickle area. Dug everything, found plenty of old schmidts tops and Piel's tabs.
I have hit this spot with a silver saber umax and xlt, and they were always a little chattie. The 70 on auto GB was smooth as silk. I had the sensitive up at 21 in some areas. The copper coins hit with a nice repeatable tone. The one thing I have found is that you don't have to, or want to, work the 70 too slow. The digital processor seems to pick up deeper, good targets when moving a little faster than previous minelab machines, the manual even suggests it. I have owned a sovereign, which I always worked slow.
Hope to get out again tomorrow!
